Burning a Hole in the Road

As much as I talk shit about going upstate, I can't lie, it's perfect for relaxing and enjoying the people you're with. SO, Memorial Day Weekend was a complete success for me. Burned skin, overeating BBQ (so I now have a food baby), and beer bloat. Nice. Here are some pics from my sweet weekend upstate.
Thought I'd be cool and catch the storm coming, but I totally missed it. See below.

 Bambi
 Total USA pride baby.
 Talk about greenery.
I was so close to stealing this glass, how awesome is it? But I didn't, I'm not a clepto.
 Hunter Mountain...summer skiing anyone?
I love this purple house; the people that live there obviously must be cool. I mean, they have a purple house. Pretty rad.
Top: 360 Sweater Pants: Current Elliott Shoes: KORS Michael Kors
I couldn't leave you guys without a great pic of myself, now could I? That would just be mean and I am definitely NOT mean, I promise. Total upstate chic or, according to one boyfriend up there, I looked like total a boy. Really? I wasn't even wearing any oxfords to evoke that one, but I'll take it!
I hope everyone had an enjoyable and memorable MDW.

MDW & Rompers, BFF

What better way to kick off Memorial Day Weekend than with a festive outfit?! And not just any festive outfit; get out your red, white and blue, who cares if it isn't the fourth of July - and dress for success, baby! Any time a holiday surrounding the good ole US of A arrives, that "three cheers for the red, white and blue" song always pops into my head and now I can't stop humming it. I guess I can thank the creators of that song, whoever they are, for inspiring my "kick off MDW" outfit.
Shirt: Marc Jacobs (courtesy of my Mom, thanks!) Romper: Club Monaco Necklace: glamROK
I thought my new red lipstick was totally appropriate for today's outfit...it also matched my newly sunburned skin. Perfect!
Shoes: Rag & Bone
There's just so much to say about these perfect, little Rag & Bone booties. The distressed suede and the brownish gray color of them have made them a staple in my closet. I don't think that they've ruined a single outfit that I've paired them with. It's like they were sent from the heavens to be my all season go to shoe. Amen to that!
I'm almost positive that I will look absolutely normal as I prance around in this outfit in that other world of waaaaay upstate, New York over the weekend. Walmart, anyone?

oxfordFOR life

Hello, hello, hello - o. Let's chat about what a great pair of oxfords can do for you.
1. Make you look instantly cooler and like you didn't just stand in front of the mirror for three hours choosing your outfit.
2. Give your boyfriend an endless amount of jokes to tease you about every time you wear them. (WIN)
3. Make you a better person. I'm just kidding about this part, I know you're already a great person. Maybe not. Whatever, I really don't care, just keep reading.
4. Possibly make you look like a complete weirdo, but hey, you tried.

Now here are some dope pairs of oxfords that I drool over everytime I take a peep at them.
Top to Bottom, Left to Right
Bass Weejuns (www.amrag.com) Miu Miu, Christian Louboutin
Marc Jacobs, Rag & Bone, Robert Clergerie (all others: www.barneys.com)

Man up, your wardrobe that is, and find the right pair of oxfords that fits your style.

Bad to the Bone

It's time for me to spill out my intense feelings for my badass Rag & Bone romper. Rag & Bone has been on my radar for quite some time now, I mean it's no secret that the past few seasons have been killer for the design duo. I guess my love affair started about two years ago, & each season grew hotter and heavier (sorry Nicko, don't get mad -they don't compare to you, I swear!). I've pretty much been obsessed with every piece I've seen thus far; the details, the fit, the fabrication and hand of the garments are simply beyond.
Vest: Club Monaco Romper: Rag & Bone Sunglasses: Celine
How cool am I? Probably cooler than all of your friends and family combined, don't hate - your friends and family are still cool, though. The easiness of rompers (going to the bathroom excluded) is something I especially love. Slip one on and you've got an insta-look! Add a few accessories, some kick ass shoes and you're set. Please note, however the romper side effect: serious mom-ass...the things we sacrifice to be fashionable, oh well. Mom-ass aside (not you, Mom!), rompers are key for the summer season and you kind of can't go wrong.
Ba Ba Ba Bad to the Rag&Bone baby. See how easy that was!
This is how I look from the side. Also, I'm sure you all love my clothes hanging everywhere in my pictures.
 Shoes: Chanel
Even though my pretty little toes were itching to be put into summer sandals, I thought my ballet flats would be a nice touch to finish off the look. There is just something so elegant, yet fierce about classic Chanel ballet flats.
I couldn't leave this post tonight without an Instagram style pic of the bracelets I've been obsessed with, because I want you all to become obsessed as well. So go out, search high and low for a Mexican street vendor selling their handmade bracelets and buy the whole roll, then call me so I can take them all from you.

Holy Shirt!!!

Monday not so fun-day. Not to sound like a complete loser, but I was seriously missing my typical Monday routine at Barneys this morning...so, to cheer myself up, I hopped and skipped (not really, I drove because I'm lazy) to the train and headed into the city for a Monday pick me up. Club Monaco was my first stop because lately I've been obsessed and it was love at first sight. A crisp, cropped and boxy white shirt with hand embellished details on the front was calling my name (Andie...Andie...Andie...). Allow me to introduce you...
Immediately upon trying this precious piece of cotton on, my mind was flooded with a milli ways to wear and style it. Clearly, leather was my first choice because what better way to balance out a light cotton with some heavy leather that will probably make you sweat like a man in the 90 degree summer weather. Chic!
Top: Club Monaco Skirt: Zara Shoes: Louboutin
Back to self taken iPhone pics, my photographer is sick. Feel better Mom!
Watch: Michael Kors Cross Bracelet: glamROK Friendship Bracelets: Sweet Mexican street vendor (handmade)
Is anyone else as obsessed as I am with friendship bracelets?! I wanted to buy the entire roll from that precious little street vendor yesterday and wear every single one on my arm. Stack 'em high!
Can you see the obvious happiness on my face?! Ah, the little things in life...
 I look normal.

Saturday's Endless Possibilites

No, my post title is not referring to my endless choices of things to do and places to go tonight, I am actually referring to my clothes (what else). By now, you all must realize I have a special relationship with my clothes and Saturday night is date night! (Just kidding, I'm not that weird, I'm just tired, OKAY!) I woke up this morning at the ungodly hour of 7 am and in my usual morning fashion, I stayed in bed until the very last possible second (not kidding when I say down to the second, possibly even millisecond), and then rushed to get through my morning routine (and by routine, I mean brush my teeth and try to make it out of the house looking semi-normal).
Leather Jacket: All Saints Sunglasses: Yves Saint Laurent Ring: YSL
No, I'm not giving you, beloved readers, the finger (hello, my mom reads my blog, I'll get in trouble). I just happened to be adjusting my sunglasses while simultaneously taking this picture. Cool. Why am I wearing sunglasses you ask? Because it looks cool with my outfit, hello! I also haven't been able to wear sunglasses and my face was missing its all season BFF.
 Flannel: Urban Renewal Dress: A.L.C.
Seriously, I am a little over the moon with the mesh insert detail on this dress. You don't expect it and then all of a sudden, its BAM...mesh in your face, baby! A.L.C. pieces are always perfect for that extra little something, and it doesn't hurt that the fit is always beyond, too. Simple jersey pieces are transformed into some of your most fashionable and versatile items in your closet. Go look, go buy, go obsess! Click Me! Click Me!
Well, well, well, look who it is... our good friend sunglasses again. I just can't help myself. This look screamed "I Need To Be Cooler". What's cooler than wearing sunglasses indoors? Wearing sunglasses indoors while inside your room while taking pictures of yourself. True Story.

Shoes: Jil Sander
The simplicity of these Jil Sander sandals make them the easiest summer sandal I think I have ever worn. They're kind of that perfect, goes with the flow, pair me with anything, type of shoe and you can never go wrong with it. They are also often referred to as "Jesus shoes" by, you guessed it, my boyfriend. This makes me love them even more.

Remember that little "so long FIT, thanks for making the simplest tasks, near impossible" celebratory shopping trip I took with Shannon? Yeah, you better remember! Well, this pretty little skirt is one of my purchases from that day.
Skirt (worn as dress): Club Monaco Scarf (worn as turban): Alexander McQueen
This white, cotton gauze skirt is THE piece I have been looking for to add into my summer wardrobe. The possibilities are endless, especially when paired with a rad silk scarf (cough McQueen cough) worn as a turban. What makes this skirt so special, you ask? Well, first off, the fact that it's high - low makes my heart flutter; anything high-low and I am sold. It's white and come on, that's a given. AND I am totally getting my moneys worth. Quick! Name five ways to wear this: beach coverup! skirt! dress! maxi skirt! oddly long shirt?! Sure, why not! Run the look by your boyfriend, if he hates it, you're set!
The summer time does not = t-shirt time, it actually equals TURBAN TIME!
Shoes: Louboutin
Tan Towels done did my ankles wrong. Self tanning ankle FAIL ... learn from my mistakes.
These Loubs are ridiculously high, even for a wedge, but the gingham makes them so country-chic fun! The skirt/dress/cover up/maxi skirt/odd length shirt above was made to wear with these shoes, so who cares if I break my ankle in the process attempting to walk down the street looking somewhat chic? (As long as I look good doing it, right?)
Look at that...the dress switched to a skirt and the turban turned into a normally worn scarf. MAGIC!
Top: French Connection Belt: YSL

I'm sure you all are hating on my life right now and wishing you too, were home playing in your closet, instead of trying to keep yourself entertained with those losers you call your friends. I'm just kidding, your friends aren't losers! I don't even know your friends...or maybe I do. I probably do. Whatever. Get inspired, have fun and take some risks!!
xoxo Andie

The Good Kind of Orange

It's no secret to all those around me that I love me some baked goods, especially when they are my own home baked treats. It's also no secret that I am a no joke baker - you will probably never taste anything as good as my triple chocolate caramel brownies or my newest addition ... carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. (Wipe off your mouths guys, you're clearly salivating)
The good kind of orange: freshly chopper-ized carrotos. Yummay
 Cupcake batter = heaven
  Not quite done yet...
The gorgeous finished product! How professional am I with my own pastry bag to make beautiful mounds of swirled cream cheese frosting goodness. Hate me, because I am that good.
One last pic of the cream cheese frosting so that you can all wish you were my friends and request some of these bad boys!
xoxo Andie

BNY, Day 3

Yesterday was my last day at BNY and the weather was totally fitting for my mood: bittersweet. It's sad leaving such an amazing group of women who dedicated so much of their time to teaching me and making sure I left with a grasp and strong understanding of the business, but at the same time it marks the end of an era for me. Time to enter the real world baby; it's exciting to start a new chapter of my life, to say the least.
I Love Your Style by Amanda Brooks
Not only did I get to spend almost a year with three amazing women, but peep what they generously gave me as a parting gift. Yeah, yeah that's right - a signed copy of the BNY Fashion Director's book, I Love Your Style. Clearly, this book was written for me ... I mean REALLY (just kidding). This is for sure a gift that will keep on giving; inspiration for years to come is kind of an understatement.
Carine Roitfeld, left page. Need I say more?
On to the outfit of the day (drumroll please ....) Talk about evening to day...I wore the same lace dress from the Baptism to the office but with a daytime spin (& obviously a dry clean in between. Otherwise, ew)
Vest: Club Monaco
You'd be surprised how many dresses can turn from day to night and vice versa, it's all about how you W-E-R-K it! Throw on some comfy little oxfords and military style vest (like moi) and bingo bango you've got a winna!
Oxfords: Pour la Victoire
Tan Towels done did me right! See ya, pale legs.
Dress: Joie Bangle: Hermes
Now go play around in your closets and thank me when you create fashion miracles from pieces you once forgot about!

BNY, Day 2: 70's Glam & Blue Suede Shoes

Another day, another dollar. Except if you're an intern, specifically an intern in the fashion industry, than the "another dollar" part doesn't apply. It's Day 2 at BNY, one day away from my last. Insert sad face, maybe some violin music. Whatever. Aside from this delicious weather that has me sweating in the sweet smelling subways to later freezing my buns off in the office, I was channeling a very 70's glam rock vibe today.
Why yes, I am admiring myself... problem?
Tres chic Beaded Bracelets: glamROK Gold Bracelet: Henri Bendel
Top: Club Monaco Jeans: J Brand Martinis
Shoes: Charlotte Ronson Necklace: Aqua

My what long legs you have! Well, thank you (yes, I just complimented myself AND replied to said compliment, so?) Now what is so great about the resurgence of 1970 inspired fashion, you ask? The bell bottoms baby (clicky on the J Brand linky!) Even for those of you who don't have legs for days, a great pair of fitted flare legs will surely elongate and slim even the shortest of legs! So much so, that your boyfriend might compare your look to that of Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas, like mine did today (SCORE!) Aside from the compliment hidden inside this "insult" (and the great satisfaction I got thinking about how long and slim Jack's legs really are), a great flare leg will make you want to strut your stuff down the sidewalk; people will most likely mistake you for a model because you'll be looking so bad ass. You can all thank me later (not really, sing my praises NOW!)

Perfect blue suede maryjanes with buckles up the ankles...me likey!
(Sorry if I stained the wallpaper, Mom...but hey, I'm proud of you for taking your first good iPhone pics! My quest for a photographer has come to an end!!? I think)
What else is it that I love about an extreme flare? Aside from the fact that, if done right, the look can be totally boyfriend cringe-worthy (insert Jack Skellington reference), there is just so much room to play around with your shoes! We're talking anything from a boot to a wedge to a sandal to a pump, whatever floats your boat. Just make sure you look beyond, because if you don't, I'm not taking the blame, sister.

Here's some 70's inspired fashion from the Spring 11 and Fall 11 Runways (in case I'm not enough inspiration for you)
