Simple is as Simple Does

This is a post about a simple outfit. An outfit so simple, anyone can do it! Here's what you'll need: a blazer with extra exaggerated shoulders, check. A sheer pregnancy style top, preferably with crocheted detail, check. Military style shorts (extra points if they make you look like you have the flattest butt on Earth), check. Super unkempt hair, double check.
Blazer: Bird Top: Club Monaco Shorts: DVF Shoes: L.A.M.B. Bracelets: glamROK & street vendor Necklace: from Greece Ring: YSL
There is nothing I adore more than extra large shoulder pads. Not only do you look chic, but you are also well protected should you ever need to a. push and shove your way through an unruly crowd b. act as a linebacker in an impromptu game of football
Juuuuuust admiring the inside lining of my blazer, and also my perfectly bronzed legs. See what several consectuive days at the beach can do for you. I can completely understand your jealousy right now, but don't worry, that's perfectly natural.
I have to practice my lunges if I want to keep my legs in shape and keep you all jealous, duh! I'm just kidding about the keeping you all jealous part, but seriously, I was practicing my lunges.
1, 2, I'm coming for you - to hang out of course...why else would I be posing like this?

Today, the Shoe Gods Smiled Down Upon Me

Excuse my lack of posts, I've been chin-chillen all weekend in Bugtown, USA (upstate, that is) and then headed to bask in the sun's wonderous rays in Jamesport (Long Island, that is). While driving home, I nearly crashed my car because I got the text of all texts from my dear momma bear, "your shoes are here". First, I thanked the shoe gods for the safe arrival of my Rochas espadrilles (scored for $170 on sale -- hurry up and click the link! HURRY!) and then I booked it the rest of the way home. Luckily for me, I had this dress on my mind to pair with this shoes...
Top Sibel Saral Dress (worn as skirt) Topshop Shoes Rochas Necklace Target Beaded Bracelets glam ROK Friendship Bracelets courtesy of my mom, purchased @ a street fair. Thanks Mom!
I needed something to spruce up this pretty little eyelet dress so I scoured my mom's closet and came up with this little treasure by Sibel Saral (I'm talking about the olive green shirt). It was a fashion match made in heaven.
Can everyone tell my family is super ready for the fourth of Joo-Lie?! Don't be jealous of my American flag...get our own & step up your patriotism game while you're at it, too.
I'm a ballerina, with devil eyes! Fear me and all my fashion power! Just kidding. Was that weird? I hope not.
I call this the "I'm too cool to show my wildly excited/happy facial expression over my adorbs shoes" pose. Yay or nay? I say yay simply because I CAN.
I just can't get enough of the shoes. Also, please note the placement of my pinky fingers: sticking out to remind you all how classy I am.

Amanda's Better Than Alexa Chung

Week 3 of Street Style Fridays! Today's street style beauty is an Alexa Chung inspired fashionista, who, in my opinion, looks way cuter than my girl Alexa.

Top: H&M Jeans: Forever 21 Booties: BCBG
Amanda, 22
I love Amanda's effortlessly chic look; she's pulled together in a sleek all black outfit without looking overly dramatized (and still totally New York summer appropriate). I adore the slightly oversize look of her button down paired with the skin tight skinny jeans with just the right amount of skin showing between her booties and the bottom of her jeans. Now, who wore this look best, Amanda or Alexa Chung. I say Amanda -- although we'll give inspirational credit to Alexa.
How amazeballs are these black, patent leather booties? They are the perfect finish to Amanda's already perfect look.
PS. The red nails are also a killer touch.
Send me your raddest and baddest street style photos; I want to feature YOU (yes, you!)

Navy Blue & Polka Dotty

What is it about polka dots that makes me want to dance, in my polka dot pants? Well, in today's case, polka dot shorts! Polka dots always bring me back to my childhood years; obviously, I was a stylish toddler. I'll even go as far as to say I was as stylish as toddlers come, yea I said it. I paired these adorable polka dot shorts with my favorite Equipment blouse. I own Equipment blouses in all colors and all silhouettes made because they really are the perfect blouse. Seriously, they go with any piece I own, you name it! If you don't already own one, these blouses are a serious must have for your closet.
Top: Equipment Shorts: Forever 21 Shoes: Steven  Necklace: Target Bracelets: glamROK
I love the way the true navy of my Equipment blouse mixed with the darker navy of the shorts, and how the polka dots with the leopard loafers totally meshed. I'm also a little obsessed with these bad ass loafers -- they just came in today and I knew they'd be perfect with this outfit. Skillz
I'd like to thank the nasty weather & humidity for ruining my once perfect hair. If you know me, you know my hair is always coiffed to per-fec-tion. No joke.
Sure, this picture is blurry but HELLO! peep the loafers! I'm talking total Hugh Hefner style shoes baby. Pimpin' it in these bad boys, all day errday.
And with this, I bid you all adieu. Tomorrow is Friday, (Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friiidaayyyy). Okay anyway, Street Style Friday, ya know the deal. Until then ...

A Layering Lesson

Today, I will teach you all my style secret: layer, layer, layer (okay, it's not really a secret)! Layer anything: jewelry, hair accessories, dresses, shirts, sweaters, scarves, whatever. Layer socks! Just do it, then look in the mirror & you'll be astonished at what a stylish reflection you have. You'll also be astonished by how disgusted and repulsed your boyfriend is at your new look. Hooray, you did it!
Dress: Nanette Lepore Necklace: Forever 21 Shoes: Modern Vintage
Step One: Put on sexy dress, or a not sexy dress. Whatever floats your boat. My hair made me feel sexy today. Just kidding, I just like this dress. Add some dope shoes (like mine), some accessories (layering applies to accessories, too - remember what I just said above.)

Shirt: Madewell Ring: Rachel Leigh Bracelets: glamROK
Step Two: Add a tot-ter-ly rad shirt. Preferably a button down or perhaps a cropped tee. Cropped tees or sweaters always look perfecto over dresses. Roll up the sleeves on your button down so you look even cooler.
Not bad, could it possibly get better? Yes!
 Vest: Club Monaco
Step Three: Add my your favorite vest. Today I chose my Club Monaco one, my original fave before the Rachel Roy one was introduced into my life. I've also found totally rad military style vests here.

Last step...THERE IS NONE! Look how cool I look, just lounging on this red loveseat in my perfectly layered look. I know you wish you were just lounging next to me, having my mom take pics of us together being totally BFFIL (best friends forever in layers). Class dismissed!

Straw in the Raw

I bought this totally rad straw hat the other day & I've been dying to feature it! It's a bit rough around the edges, which I happen to love and my Mom happens to hate. Just allow yourself to fall in love already, Mom, you know you want to. Plus, you'll be practically kissing my feet when you're totally styling in it on the beach. Whatever. Check it.
Straw Hat: Rag & Bone Vest: Club Monaco Top: Marni Skirt: The Row Shoes: YSL
Look at me, the hat model! And a damn good one, if I do say so myself. The whole point of this look is the ease of each piece and when put together, how it creates one EASY look. I'm talking effortless, peeps. The sheer top is just the right amount of sheer without crossing over into the whole streetwalker look. Any type of wrap skirt and I'm sold, particularly with this The Row piece; the fit and the way it just falls makes it go great with anything from a silk top to a simple t-shirt and flats. And then the vest...I mean I wear these military vests practically everyday, need I say more? I didn't think so.
Crystal bracelets: Forever 21 Beaded bracelets: glamROK
How 'bout them arm candy right there? I have a penchant for layering bracelets, I just can't seem to stop. And to conclude today's simple outfit, topped with a straw in the raw hat, I leave you all with...
THIS! Sweet dreams of my face, dear readers!

MMMMMissoni Monday

MMM MMM MMM, do I love me some Missoni, especially on Mondays! I'm currently living in this twisted world where I am a total seventies Missoni clad queen. It could also be the Queen that's currently blasting through my iPod, most likely keeping my brother from sleeping. Sorry Rich, but I'm getting inspired here.
Dress: Missoni Belt: H&M Shoes: Modern Vintage
Am I not everything a Missoni clad queen should look like, plus more? I mean, don't be surprised if I'm featured in their next ad campaign.
Watch: Michael Kors Bangle: Hermes
And now onto some more Monday Missoni madness...
Skirt: Missoni Sweater: H&M Shoes: KORS Michael Kors
Okay, so I may be slightly obsessed with the slits on the side of this skirt. Every time I slip this little numbah on I can't help sticking my legs out through the slits for the whole world to see. I want each and every person I encounter on the street to stop me and say, "My what nice side slits on your skirt, how terribly chic. You're the most awesome person I've ever met." Well, the awesome person part I guess I could do without, but how can you not fall in love? YOU CAN'T!!!
Hey, look at me, I have no neck!
Now, if my boyfriend doesn't think I'm sexy after this pic, well, I just don't know. The slits, the skirt, the stance, I'm going for the triple threat here. I am almost 99.9% positive that I will get made fun of tomorrow. I don't mind though, it just re-confirms that this is a job well done.

Shannon's Skirt

Week 2 of Street Style Fridays! I know you've all been patiently awaiting my newest addition. I won't make you wait any longer...
This is Shannon. She's 22 and super rad, which is totally obvious & can be seen in these pictures.
T-shirt: Gap Skirt: H&M Belt: H&M Shoes: Tory Burch Watch: Fossil Bracelet: Her mom's
Photos courtesy of: Her boyfriend, Leigh
Check out his amazing band Jellybean; when you all fall in love with their music, you can thank me later for introducing. Thank the band for creating such sweet music by finding them on iTunes. Fill that iPod up already! What are you waiting for?
And this...is her delicious, to-die-for skirt. Who do you guys like better? I say the skirt. Just kidding. Not really. Okay, I am. But really, how fabulous is the skirt?! The midi length is too good, especially considering the new length craze. I can't get enough of it. I practically drooled when I saw these pictures. Then, there's the print and the mixture of the blues with the grays makes it perfect for spring/summer into fall. Get it girl!
And with this picture perfect look, I conclude Week 2 of Street Style. I also want to wish this fabulous girl the very best of luck on her big 7 week move to Ohio to begin her training for...Limited Brands! Another fashionista out into the working world.
Send me your best looks, people. Seriously, I'm waiting.

Black & White All Over

I love anything that's short in the front and long in the back, and I love it even more if it's black in front and white in the back. The love continues to grow if it's sheer. Even more love if it's a shirt dress. Aren't you just itching in your pantelones to see what I'm talking about?
Dress: H&M Slip Dress: Rag & Bone Shoes: Louboutin
Wow! All those things I named in one garment?! Could it be real? Am I dreaming? No, sillies, it's not some crazy mirage created by your wildest fantasies and desires, it's just this totally killer H&M shirt dress!
Ring: YSL Bangle: Hermes Bracelets: glamROK
My hair totally took on a life of its own during this after dinner photo shoot. Props to my moms for the dope pics! Props to the wind for making me look like a totally sexy mess.
Here I am having a conversation with...no one! I was just enjoying myself, pretending to be in full conversation with the non-existent person (not) sitting next to me.
I particularly love how the back of the dress is so long, it in fact is covering half of my shoe in the photo. Pure perfection, I tell ya.
Tomorrow is Friday & you know what that means... Street Style!!!!! If you haven't sent me your picture yet, what the heck are you waiting for! Don't you know what I can do for your social status, I mean really. Get a move on.

What to Wear to...Your First Day of Work

So many of my friends have graduated and have embarked on the amazing journey that is the beginning of their careers. Obviously, they're not as lucky as I, for I have the entire summer to myself before embarking on MY journey. Hate. Me. I kid, I kid...while it is pretty rad to be enjoying my last summer of life, it's even more rad that my friends are starting their jobs! I've been getting quite a few texts with, "What do I wear, help!". So, here it is for all of you beginning your real life, and leaving the fake life be-hind. See ya!
Top: Tibi Pants: Theyskens' Theory Shoes: Pierre Hardy x Gap Bag: Celine
Obviously, it's best to tailor your outfit to where you're working whether it is in fashion, education, or a more corporate setting, but don't lose your personality and style! Add those personal touches, baby - don't be afraid to add some color or a beautiful print. Own it.
Pyramid Bangle: J Crew Gold Bracelet: Henri Bendel Coral Bracelet: glamROK
While you want your style to shine through, remember your first few days on the job you should stick to more conservative looks, until you get the feel for the culture of the job. This applies to accessories, too. Keep them to a minimum...sorry to all those with a sweet tooth, not too much arm candy today!
A kiss for you, because I just adore you all so much. Big ups to my momma, for having me strike this pose! I'm such a cutie.
Also important, make sure you bring your adorable dog to your first day of work. What better way to score new friends and cool points with your boss?! Just kidding. But how cute is Tigre, I mean really. Really.
Stay tuned for another feature of What to Wear to... ? in the upcoming weeks.

From Bad to Rad

We all have those basics that we use simply for layering under our more fashion favorite pieces or they simply just sit in our drawers, or if you're like me, on your floor. If you're like me again, you've got an entire drawer dedicated just to white t-shirts, because that's completely normal. Here is my own personal how to on turning your blah basics into one rad outfit.
Step One: Pick a basic, any basic! I chose a white tee and this simple Theory ruched skirt.
 Skirt: Theory
Step Two: Add some kick ass accessories (arm candy especially) and leave nothing out. This includes necklaces, belts, scarves, sunglasses, bracelets, rings, toe rings (just kidding, NO toe rings). I think you catch my drift, eh?
 From left
J.Crew, Rachel Rachel Roy, from Jeweler, glamROK x 2
Belt: YSL Necklace: Henri Bendel Scarf: Alexander McQueen
Step Three: Add a totally inappropriate pair of shoes. Here, booties were an obvious choice. I love a suede bootie in 100 degree weather, it's so (in)appropriate.
Boots: Rag & Bone
And now for the full, finished look of from bad to rad.

Call me a magician if you must. Your wallets will also thank me, for now, I've given you all, dear readers, the tools to create something from nothings. Peace.
xoxo Andie
